Cops Run Off the Road by Stolen Car in Wild Chase Through Avon
A juvenile in a stolen car was arrested after a wild chase through Avon.

AVON/FARMINGTON, CT — Avon police arrested a juvenile in a stolen car who ran detectives off the road in a wild chase on Tuesday afternoon.
At 3 p.m. West Hartford Police contacted Avon police to say they spotted a white 2012 Toyota Camry, recently stolen from Farmington, heading west on Route 44 toward Avon Mountain.
After the vehicle crossed over the Avon town line, Avon officers in the vicinity attempted to stop the vehicle, but it proceeded northbound on Nod Road at which point, the vehicle’s driver made a “K” turn in the road and headed directly into the path of an Avon detective car, police said.

The detectives were forced off the road, and the Camry began heading toward East Main Street, police said.
APD officers were preparing to put down “stop sticks” to stop the Camry, when at 51 East Main St., in the vicinity of Mountain View Avenue, it crashed into another car, police said.

A third car was also involved in the crash and occupants of both of bystander vehicles sustained minor injuries, police said.
Police said the driver of the stolen vehicle is a juvenile and was taken into custody.
The incident is still under investigation.
Both lanes of Route 44 eastbound remained open and one lane westbound on Route 44 was open to traffic. The second westbound lane was to be opened up by 6 p.m., police said.
