Art for Mom's Sake: Opening Reception

There will never be another woman as fond of your smile, as proud of your accomplishments or as willing to wipe your runny nose. This Mother's Day, the Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) in Avon makes it easy to please Mom—and to show up siblings—with cards and gifts as singular as the women you cherish. On Friday, April 29, from 6 to 9 p.m., the FVAC hosts an opening reception for Sentiments for Mothers, an exhibition and sale of handcrafted greeting cards and small works of art created by Connecticut artists.

Among the original creations, those seeking a one-of-a-kind showcase for their appreciation and affection will find hand-painted cards, colorful mixed media cards and other fun designs that reflect each artist’s interpretation of the spirit of Mother's Day. The handmade cards, priced from $5 to $8, and small works, priced from $25 to $50, will remain on view and for sale in the FVAC's Esther Drezner Visitors' Gallery through May 7, along with a selection of jewelry, handbags, scarves and other finely crafted gifts. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.

The Farmington Valley Arts Center is located at 25 Arts Center Lane in Avon Park North, Avon, Connecticut. From Route 44, turn onto Ensign Drive, and Arts Center Lane is the second left. For additional information, visit www.artsfvac.org or call 860-678-1867.
