by Friday, February 25. The

photographs will remain on display through early June.

Bob Burns is an accomplished landscape artist who resides with his family in Simsbury. He left his native

Connecticut at age seventeen for New York City to study and prepare for a career in fine or commercial art. He

returned to Connecticut and spent time at Paier College of Art in Hamden. He became intrigued, however, by the

mystique of Wall Street and decided that an investment career held more promise in providing for and raising a

family. So for the next 40 years he spent his working time dealing with the securities markets in New England.

Five years ago Bob decided to pursue his initial passion and currently devotes full time to the field of art. He has

been formally trained at the Hartford Art School. Bob is a realist, or representational artist, painting primarily with

oils. He focuses on the natural beauty of Simsbury and its immediate environs as well as the special New England

coastal area. He is intrigued by the subtle beauty of our environment as well as the pristine colonial architecture

prevalent in this area. “We are indeed fortunate to live in an area of such beauty. A friend once remarked that we

New Englanders take our region’s beauty for granted; however, if New England were in whole transplanted to the

midst of the deserts of the west, the government would fence in our area and rightfully declare a scenic national

park!” says Burns. That said, the natural beauty that surrounds us has already been created, and Bob firmly believes

that the artist’s mission is to reveal that beauty through the expression of his medium.

Pastels Catering, located in Simsbury, has enjoyed resounding and continual success for over 25 years. From the

expected to the exotic, the familiar to the flamboyant, the traditional to the trendy, the staff caters to both corporate

and social events, using the freshest seasonal ingredients with a special eye toward presentation.

CT Wine, a premier wine vendor in greater Hartford County and the Farmington Valley, features a large staff

offering the best service and knowledge in the retail industry and hosts frequent on-and-off-site wine tastings.

“We are very pleased to display Bob’s work this spring, as our goal is to provide exposure to local artists as well as

to feature CT wines and Pastels Catering,” said Eliot Weissberg, CFP
