The Avon, Canton and Simsbury police departments and Connecticut's Drug Control Unit are collaborating with area pharmacies to collect all unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs. The public may bring prescription drugs to a drive-through collection point in the Simsbury Commons parking lot between Walgreens (540 Bushy Hill Rd., Simsbury) and Stop & Shop (498 Bushy Hill Rd., Simsbury) for safe disposal on Jan. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Unwanted pet medications will also be accepted. This is the first time the program has been held in the Farmington Valley, intended to be a free, "no questions asked" service.
