"Connections" Opening Reception

The Farmington Valley Arts Center hosts a free opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. for "Connections," a juried show of contemporary drawings, paintings, photography, prints, mixed media and sculpture by artists from Connecticut and beyond. Juror Patricia Hickson, who joined Hartford's Wadsworth Atheneum in 2009 as the Emily Hall Tremaine Curator of Contemporary Art, selected the show's pieces for their imaginative and thoughtful interpretations of the "Connections" theme.

The exhibit, which runs through June 2 in the Arts Center's Fisher Gallery, provides arts enthusiasts and collectors with the opportunity to view--and to purchase--diverse creations deemed notable by Hickson, who oversees contemporary art collections, acquisitions and special exhibitions at America's oldest public art museum. Gallery hours are noon until 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and by appointment.
