Meet artist Aimee Lee at a free Gallery Reception on Friday, April 27, from 5-7 p.m. at the Farmington Valley Arts Center, where Lee's works are on exhibit through April 28.
Based in New York's Westchester County, Lee makes and works with hanji: Korean handmade paper. "I use paper manipulation techniques such as natural dyeing and surface treatment, texturing, felting, cording and weaving," she says. "I have adapted ancient techniques and materials to update tradition and encourage the survival and evolution of the old ways, while adding layers of meaning to my practice."
