The Real and the Marvelous Mother America, an exhibition of paintings by Melissa Croghan, runs Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. from March 12 through April 4 at the Esther Drezner Visitors' Gallery at the Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) in Avon, Connecticut. The arresting oil paintings in the Mother America series represent a decade-long artistic and intellectual quest to reimagine American symbolism in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy.
