On Thursday, February 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. (snow date: Friday, February 10), the Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) in Avon hosts Wine & Valentines, a free evening of wine tasting, sweet treats and holiday art. Visitors are invited to sample whites and reds as they browse through a selection of more than 100 handmade Valentines created by Connecticut artists.
Among the original creations, those seeking a one-of-a-kind showcase for their sentiments of love will find hand-painted cards, colorful mixed media cards and other fun, seductive designs that reflect each artist’s interpretation of the spirit and romance of Valentine’s Day.
The Valentine cards, priced from $5 to $8, will remain on view and for sale in the FVAC's Fisher Gallery through February 23. The Fisher Gallery also hosts "For The LOVE Of ART," an exhibition of small romantic works priced from $50 to $100 and perfect for Valentine's Day giving, from February 4-23. Art lovers will discover a diverse selection of jewelry, glassware, wearable pieces and other handcrafted gifts in the Esther Drezner Visitors' Gallery at FVAC, as well. Both galleries are open from noon until 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday during the exhibition, as well as on Monday and Tuesday, February 13-14.
