First Company Governor's Horse Guards come to the Avon Public Library September 17
Family-friendly opportunity to meet the horses and troopers of America's oldest continuously mounted cavalry unit.

Come meet the horses and Troopers of the First Company Governor's Horse Guards at the Avon Library from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, September 17th. This is a family-friendly event! In addition to giving the public the opportunity to interact with the horses, Troopers will be available answer questions about the history of the unit, their training, and horse care. A slideshow presentation by the unit's Avon born and raised Commandant, Major Chris Miller, will take place at 1:00 pm in the Community Room. This will be followed by a slideshow presentation by photographer Deb Key, who has documented the troop and history over the past three years.
The First Company Governor's Horse Guards is featured in a photographic exhibit by Deb Key in the Gallery from September 1- October 7, and historical items are on display throughout the months of September and October. Come learn more about this one of a kind, 238 year old Cavalry unit and its current activities in the community.
