Fun, Hands-On Vacation Programs for Kids K-8 at Talcott Mountain Science Center!

Vacations should be fun, and so should learning! Check out Talcott Mountain Science Center December Vacation Programs for Grades K through 8

Are you looking for a fun way for your child to spend their winter vacation? Talcott Mountain Science Center (TMSC) in Avon, CT is hosting their two-day December Vacation programs from Dec. 26-29! From coding to creating snow; card tricks to LEGO competitions -- TMSC has the perfect hands-on program for your little genius. See why students love spending some of their vacation week with TMSC!

Our programs are hands-on, our classes are small and there's always something for everyone!

Vacation kicks-off on Monday, December 26 with Wild Winter Weather (Gr. 4-8) and LEGO Mindstorms Robotics (Gr. K-3). Wild Winter Weather students will investigate the science behind snow, ice, rain, sleet and rime! They will get to collect and make their own snowflakes, build ice sculptures, snow shelters and more - even go 300 degrees below zero with liquid nitrogen! For students grades K-3, they will have the opportunity to work in teams to design, build, code and compete their LEGO robots in LEGO Mindstorms Robotics! They will play games, solve problems, and save the planet using LEGO Mindstorms NXT technology.

The next set of vacation programs begins on Wednesday, December 28 as students explore Magic & Science (Gr. K-3) and compete in Mindstorms Robotics (Gr. 4-8). For all of our Harry Potter fans and magicians out there, students can learn gimmicks, illusions and create their own magic wand in Magic & Science. Get ready to “ooh” and “aah” as they come home with new science-based tricks and a magical sleight of hand! Students in Mindstorms Robotics will learn the basics of programming their own robot, in terms of making it stable while also having attachments that can accomplish various tasks. Students will be split into teams and cap off the week as they compete with a series of fun challenges on the last day.
