Goodwill Welcomes New Members To Board of Directors

Four Respectable Connecticut Natives Join Goodwill's Board of Directors

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (July 18, 2016) — Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut is pleased to announce the election of four new members to its Board of Directors - Tom Harris of Weston, Catharine Freeman of Hartford, Leanne Bell of Westport and Shelton resident Sean Kane.

Harris is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Connecticut and New York and founder of Tommy J Harris, CPA LLC which provides a range of business consultancy, accounting and tax services to businesses and individuals. With a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Long Island University, Tom has more than thirty years of experience as a strategic and financial advisor with a consistent emphasis on providing outstanding client service.

Freeman is a practicing attorney in Connecticut where she is the Assistant Corporation Counsel for the city of Hartford. Freeman earned her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Fine Arts from Fairfield University before moving on to Boston College Law School. Freeman has more than seventeen years of experience practicing law in Connecticut before State, Federal, and Appellate Courts.

Bell has more than 30 years as a power industry investor and finance professional, working as a senior executive for large public companies including Prudential and GE Capital. Bell is also involved with Project Luangwa, a Zambian based charity focused on lifting communities through education, with Smith College’s Picker Engineering Program and with Doctors Without Borders. Leanne earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Smith College.

Kane has worked with a wide range of blue chip clients such as Procter & Gamble, General Electric, and Shell Oil. From strategic planning and brand development to new product initiatives and client service, he has consistently helped his clients’ businesses grow by creating advantage and seizing opportunity. Since 2007 his agency has applied the disciplines of CPG, new product development and strategic planning to advertising in the direct response world.

“We are thrilled to have these individuals as new members of our Board of Directors,” said David B. Cole, Board Chairman, Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut. “We believe that their significant business experience and passion about our organization will contribute to the success of our mission here at Goodwill.”

Goodwill is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by an elected board of directors, and the new members will join a board that provides strategic leadership and fiduciary oversight as it works to ensure progress towards organizational goals.

“I am honored to have these four new members join our Board of Directors,” said Vickie Volpano, President and CEO, Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut. “They will do an excellent job in serving this Goodwill chapter.”
