Connecticut Water is building a new water tank in Avon that should improve service, officials said.

AVON, CT — Connecticut Water Co. officials recently updated the public on part of a multi-million-dollar water improvement project in Avon they say will improve service in the area.

According to Connecticut Water, contractors recently erected concrete walls for a new, 1.3-million-gallon water tank in Avon.

The project, they said, is part of a $4 million initiative to improve water service for customers in the area.

"Along with a new water tank, the project includes adding a booster station near the tank in the fall. Next year, water mains in the area will get replaced. "

Water company officials said, when finished, the project will provide customers in the area with improved water pressure, water quality, and reliability.

The water main replacement portion of the project is funded through the Water Infrastructure and Conservation Adjustment (WICA) on customer bills.

Connecticut Water’s goal is to replace about 1 percent of its more than 1,850 miles of water main every year through the WICA program.

Connecticut Water is a public water utility that is regulated by the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority. It serves 60 towns in Connecticut, including Avon.
