Music Educators Group Honors Middle and Upper School Students from KO
Avon resident named All State
More than a dozen Middle and Upper School music students from Kingswood Oxford School have earned honors from the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA), with four of them named to the CMEA’s prestigious All State Festival.
This is the third All State year in a row for Nick Giamalis ‘16 of Glastonbury, who plays the double bass, and the second in a row for Noah Hawks-Ladds ‘17 of Bolton, who plays the French horn.
David Marottolo ‘18 of Wethersfield (clarinet) and Zach Herz ‘18 of Avon (voice) also made All State this year.

The four will join other musicians from across the state for three days of rehearsal, culminating in the All State concert on April 30 at the CT Convention Center.
In addition, nine Middle School students were accepted into the CMEA’s North Regional Music Festival. These students are:

- Harim Hahn ‘20 (oboe) and Matthew Marottolo ‘20 (voice) of Wethersfield;
- Molly Carroll ‘21 (voice) of Avon;
- Jack Risley ‘20 (voice) of Rocky Hill; and
- Aidan O’Loughlin ‘20 (trumpet), Tom Dowd ‘20 (alto saxophone), Ethan Levinbook ‘20 (cello), Gabi Jimenez ‘22 (voice) and Emily Lemkuil ‘20 (voice), all of West Hartford.
