Old Farms Road Bridge Project Update
At this point the car top boat launch is available for public use.
July 16, 2020
The closure of Old Farms Road from Tillotson to Waterville Road in late June/early July allowed the contractor to make incredible progress towards completion of the project. At this time, the bridge and roadwork portions of the project are completed with a number of minor items remaining such as landscaping, a small additional section of guiderail, and other miscellaneous items. The center pier of the old bridge has been removed and boulders have been placed in and around the area per the requirements of the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. A semi-final walk-thru inspection was performed on July 16 during which an initial punch list was prepared.

Town staff are very pleased with dedication to the project and all of the work provided by the Connecticut DOT team and the Contractor, ROTHA. Avon residents now have significant additions to its recreational facilities with the car-top boat launch on the Farmington River, parking improvements at Fisher Meadows, not to mention a much safer and user-friendly roadway.
