Prominent News Anchor's Play Part Of Avon Theater Group Show
Playhouse 44 in Avon is hosting auditions May 14-16 for its first-ever show, set to take place in August at Avon High School.
AVON, CT — A newly formed local theater group will audition prospective performers this month for the organization's first production in August, including a play written by a prominent Connecticut TV news anchor.
Playhouse 44, which was organized last year, is hosting auditions May 14-16 at the Peachtree Village Clubhouse, which is just off Darling Drive, which is opposite Whole Foods on Route 44)
The auditions are for "Nine Tens on Forty Four," which is a series of 10-minute plays, including:

• “Mr. Preble Gets Rid of His Wife,” by New Yorker humorist James Thurber.
• “The Politics of Modern Family Life,” by WTNH news anchor Dennis House.

It is "about the generational divide between parents and their teenage children," according to Playhouse 44.
• “The Play’s the Thing,” by award-winning novelist Chris Knopf.
• “The Buck Stops Here,” by popular playwright Jacques Lamarre.
All parts are available for all ages—from teens to seniors.
The performances will take place Aug. 9-11 at Avon High School.
