Registrants Sought For Avon First Responder Camp
The deadline for the free July camp, which is hosted by Avon police, is March 28.

AVON, CT — The clock is ticking for folks to sign up their teens to join the Avon Police Department's "First Responder Camp" that will take place in July.
The deadline to register is March 28 for the camp, which will take place July 17-19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Avon Police Department.
This free, three-day course will, in the words of the APD, "provide participants with a hands-on and interactive look at the responsibilities of local first responders."

This program bond the department with the local youth community, but it also stands to act as a showcase to introduce the teens for careers in public service.
The camp is for students who are entering either ninth-grade or 10th-grade this fall.

Activities include: motor vehicle laws; DUI and crash investigations; vehicle extrications from the fire department; CPR/first aid; K-9 and drone demonstrations; SWAT team preparations; criminal scene investigations and more.
