Calling herself "a champion for small business," Seminara also said she supports law enforcement, advocates for the independence and funding of municipalities, and "is tireless" in her support of veterans, people with disabilities, those with mental health challenges, and seniors.

She said she voted for the largest tax cut in the state’s history and successfully fought to retain the fiscal guardrails that have contributed to Connecticut’s surplus.

“It has been an honor and a privilege representing the 8th District in Hartford. I have achieved results for my constituents by partnering with residents, businesses, industries, and nonprofits, as well as consistently working in a bipartisan and collaborative manner. I will continue to advocate for my constituents through common-sense legislation," Seminara said in a statement.

"I am excited to run for a second term as your State Senator to continue building upon the important progress and accomplishments of the past year and a half. I look forward to continuing to lead the 8th District with 'grit and grace' and will work each and every day to earn your vote in November.”

Seminara's announcement sets up a likely rematch in the 8th Senate, with Harwinton Democrat Democrat Paul Honig last week announcing a second campaign for the 8th Senate District.

Seminara narrowly defeated Honig in 2022.
