Honig is serving his third term on the Harwinton Board of Selectmen and ran for the office in 2022.
That's when incumbent Republican state Sen. Lisa Seminara, R-Avon, narrowly defeated Honig, 22,944-22,820.

He said he's looking to make up the 124-vote difference in 2024.
“Running for state senate was an amazing experience. I was inspired by the thousands of voters who took the time to speak with me and share their stories," he said in an announcement Monday morning. "They told me of their daily challenges and the values that they and their neighbors hold dear, values like fiscal responsibility, equal rights for people from all backgrounds, and access to reproductive health care.
"It is with their stories in mind that I’m committed to working as hard as I can to win this seat and help implement policies that will improve the lives of the people of the 8th District."
Honig said that he expects many of the issues that were important to voters last election to remain.
Presently, Honig serves on the Harwinton Board of Selectmen. He also serves as treasurer of Region 10 Make A Mark, Inc., a local nonprofit that provides grants to students, teachers and administrators, and as the treasurer and executive board member at his synagogue, the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation in Simsbury.
He lives in Harwinton with his wife and two sons.
