TMA middle school team is the first to win two consecutive years. Students qualify for National Science Bowl in Washington, DC in April.
On Saturday, February 25th, a team of four students from Talcott Mountain Academy (TMA) finished first place in the Regional Middle School Science Bowl. This finish marks the second consecutive year the school has taken first place in the competition, distinguishing it as the only school in Connecticut to have accomplished such a feat.
The 2017 Talcott Mountain Academy first place team included eighth grade students Dash Corning and Aresh Pourkavoos (both from Avon), and seventh grade students Julian Kage (Glastonbury) and Connor Farquhar (West Hartford).
Hosted by the University of Connecticut, the Connecticut Regional Middle School Science Bowl is comprised of 32 teams—each with four or five students from schools and home school associations across the state. As top finishers in the event, the Talcott Mountain Academy team will be continuing on to the National Science Bowl competition, which will be held in Washington D.C., from April 27 - May 1.
