For this holiday, it’s customary to plant trees and eat the fruits of Land of Israel to
celebrate. Olives, dates, pomegranates, barley, figs. These are just a few of the
foods the Bible associates with the Land of Israel. In 16th century Tzefat in northern
Israel, a mystic named Rabbi Isaac Luria developed a festive Passover-like
Seder featuring teachings, wine, and the fruits of the Land of Israel. Today,
many communities enjoy a Tu Bishvat Seder, and/or observe this holiday by
focusing on social justice programs with an environmental focus.

RSVP required for the Tu Bishvat Seder. Please call (860) 658-1075 or
email admin@fvjc.org by Thursday, January 14.
