AVON, CT — Avon police on Wednesday were warning residents about calls that could be threatening local medical offices with fake arrest warrants.

Police said a man called police headquarters on Wednesday morning and inquired about the sergeant on duty.

Police said area medical offices then began receiving calls from a man using the duty sergeant's name — Sgt. Tom Jacius — saying that a "bench warrant" had been issued for a doctor at the practice.

It's all a scam, police said. Police did not detail what sort of information the caller was trying to obtain.
