Beloved Berlin Firefighter Retiring After Six Decades
The longtime veteran has been battling fires and saving lives since 1962.

BERLIN, CT β A local firefighter who has been actively saving lives and property since John F. Kennedy was president has announced his retirement.
The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department's Kensington Fire-Rescue unit recently announced that John Corvi, the longest active member of the department, is retiring.
Already retired as a paid New Britain Fire Department member (retired as deputy chief), Corvi has been fighting fires since about 1962.

"That puts him at over 60 years of active service," wrote Kensington Fire-Rescue, which is located at 880 Farmington Ave., Berlin.
"We wish John only the best and are grateful for his years of service to our organization as a foreman, driver and several officer positions."
