Berlin Citizen's Police Academy Coming Up

Classes for the academy begin in September.

BERLIN, CT - The Berlin Police Department will host a Citizen's Police Academy in September. Each week academy participants will learn about a different aspect of policing, including fraud, drug investigations, patrol and specialized units.

"The Citizen’s Police Academy affords members of the department an opportunity to positively interact with our community and teach them about what the job entails," a statement from the department reads. "We hope to strengthen our relationship with the participants by exchanging ideas and discussing how we strive to meet our goals. In doing so we also hope to reduce any suspicions, fears, or misconceptions they might have about police officers and the Berlin Police Department."

Academy classes will be held every Tuesday between Sept. 11 and Nov. 13. For more information and applications, go to the police department's website.
