Berlin Dad Told Police He Shook Baby: Report

Christopher Yawin is facing assault and attempted manslaughter charges after his 3 1/2 month daughter suffered critical injuries.

The Berlin father of a 3 1/2-month-old girl reportedly admitted to police that he shook his daughter in an attempt to get her to stop crying, causing critical injuries.

NBC Connecticut reports that court documents the station obtained show that Christopher Yawin offered a variety of explanations as to how his daughter suffered numerous broken bones and ribs, a skull fractures and other traumatic injuries in April.

The baby’s mother who had the girl in Yawin’s care brought her to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center on April 30 after she began vomiting and suffering seizures, according to NBC.

Yawin, who was arrested June 24 and charged with first-degree assault, criminal attempt to commit first-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor, remains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bond and is scheduled to return to state Superior Court in New Britain on Aug. 26, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website and NBC Connecticut.
