Our collection efforts in April led to the collection of 194 pounds of expired and unused prescription drugs and we hope to increase this amount during this monthβs event. There is no cost involved with the service, itβs anonymous, and no questions will be asked. Berlin residents can travel up the Town Hall complex driveway and drop their drugs into a curbside box without getting out of their vehicle. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications. An officer will be stationed on-site to answer any questions.
This national initiative will provide an opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. Unused medicine that is flushed down the drain can result in contamination of ground and surface water.
