Berlin Election Results 2016: Major National Incumbents Win, Mixed Results for State Races

See how Berlin voted in the 2016 election.

BERLIN, CT — Registered voters in Berlin had an early start to the polls on Nov. 8 for the 2016 election, and the momentum continued until the balloting closed at 8 p.m.

Here are the unofficial results of how Berlin voted, posted by the secretary of the state:

  • (R) Trump and Pence - 6,210 - 53.53 percent
  • (D) Clinton and Kaine - 4,913 - 42.35 percent
  • (L) Johnson and Weld - 326 - 2.81 percent
  • (G) Stein and Baraka - 142 - 1.22 percent

U.S. Senate

  • (D) Richard Blumenthal - 5,702 - 50.84 percent
  • (R) Dan Carter - 4,642 - 41.39 percent

BERLIN, CT — Berlin residents headed to the polls Tuesday for the 2016 midterm election.

Polling places in Berlin are now closed.

In Berlin, the choice for 6th Senatorial District involves Democratic incumbent Terry Bielinski Gerratana, Republican challenger Charles Paonessa and petitioning candidate Sharon R. Beloin-Saavedra. Gerratana is a three-term incumbent. Paonessa has been a self-employed businessman for over 40 years. Beloin-Saavedra is an at-large member of the New Britain Board of Education.

For the 30th State House District, the Democratic incumbent is Joe Aresimowicz and the Republican candidate is Christopher Morelli. Aresimowicz is serving his sixth term, including his second as Majority Leader of the House. Morelli is a political science student at the University of Connecticut and serves on the Berlin Cemetery Commission.

In the 83rd State House District, the Democratic incumbent is Catherine Abercrombie and the Republican challenger is Joseph Vollano. Abercrombie is serving her sixth term. Vollano is a political newcomer who serves as the secretary of Meriden’s Golf Commission and is a member of its Neighborhood Rehabilitation Board.

Democrat Frederick Jortner and Republican Elizabeth Tedeschi are the candidates for registrar of voters.

The candidates for president and vice president are Republicans Donald Trump and Mike Pence, Democrats Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, and Green Party Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka.

For United States Senate, the candidates are Democratic incumbent Richard Blumenthal, Republican Dan Carter, Libertarian Richard Lion and Green Party Jeffery Russell.

For United States Congress, the choice is between Democratic incumbent John Larson, Republican Matthew Corey and Green Party S. Michael DeRosa.
