Berlin PD Exceeds 'Penguin Plunge' Goal For Special Olympics
BPD officers were joined by those from New Britain as they jumped into an icy lake to help Connecticut Special Olympics.
BERLIN, CT — Local police officers and cadets bravely jumped into the icy waters of Silver Lake Friday, Feb. 23, with no one reporting any long-term health damage.
The reason for all the freezing on Friday was to raise money for Connecticut Special Olympics, the benefactor of various Connecticut police departments' 'Penguin Plunges.'
The event was also hosted by the New Britain Police Department in the joint plunge, which took place at the lake in Berlin.
