Berlin-Peck Memorial Library Read & Bead Summer Challenge Starts June 17

June 17 – August 15 (Preschool-Grade 5)

Earn beads and Brag Tags for reading, being read to, and completing Weekly Challenges and Grab & Go Activity Kits!

HOW IT WORKS

1. To Get Your Read & Bead Bag: place a Holds request for library materials through our online catalog or by calling (860) 828-7125. You will be notified when your materials are ready for Curbside Pickup and contacted to schedule a pick-up time. When you are contacted to schedule a pick-up time, let us know that you would like one (or more) Read & Bead Bags. Limit one bag per child, please!
2. If you don’t want to place a Holds request, no problem! Call the Children’s Department at (860) 828-7127 to schedule a pick-up time for just a Read & Bead Bag.
3. Your Read & Bead Bag(s) will be available for pick-up when your library materials are! The Read & Bead Bags include:
   • a necklace
   • starter beads
   • a Surprise Brag Tag
   • a Read & Bead Log
   • instructions
   • a Color Craze plastic bag that can be colored in with permanent markers
   • a schedule of activities including Special Summer Challenges, Grab & Go Kits, Virtual Programs, and more!
4. Start reading! Fill in the circles on your log and earn beads and Brag Tags to decorate your necklace. Complete Weekly Challenges and Grab & Go Activity Kits to earn Challenge Beads. Weekly Challenges will be posted on this page and on our Children’s Department FB page. Registration for Grab & Go Activity Kits can be found on our Events Page.

ADDITIONAL BEADS & BRAG TAGS

Level up as you earn beads! Exchange multiple plain beads for fancier ones. Earn extra Brag Tags when you read for 20, 34, and 48 days.

Leveled-Up Bead & Brag Tag Bags will be available for Curbside Pickup by calling the Children’s Department on the following schedule:

• July 6 and later: Level 2 (Glitter, UV Color Changing, Hearts)
• July 20 and later: Level 3 (Pearl, Frosted, Sport)
• Aug 3 and later: Level 4 (Animal, Glow-in-the-Dark, Fun Shape Glitter)
