Once Iconic Celebration Returns To Berlin This Weekend As Part of America 250
Berlin has revived the old 'Yankee Peddler Day' from the 1970s/1980s, with vendors, history displays, and a colonial-themed baking contest.

BERLIN, CT — Berlin will revive Yankee Peddler Day on Saturday, May 30, as part of the town’s America 250 celebrations, bringing back a community event that residents have long asked to see return.
Organizers said the event, once held on Main Street in Kensington during the late 1970s and early 1980s, featured vendors, music, food, and historical exhibits.
Members of the Berlin Historical Society also participated in period costumes and displayed historic photographs during the original celebrations.

“Thanks to an energetic town committee, Yankee Peddler Day returns on May 30th,” organizers said in a public announcement promoting the event.

This year’s festivities, which will be at the VFW, 152 Massirio Drive, include the Berlin 250 Baking Contest.
The contest invites participants to prepare 18th-century-inspired recipes with modern twists as part of the town’s colonial-themed celebration.
Organizers are encouraging advance registration for the baking contest.
Additional information, contest rules, and recipes are available online through a registration link and QR code shared in promotional materials.
The event is part of Berlin’s broader participation in America 250, the nationwide commemoration of the country’s 250th anniversary.
