Berlin Places in Top 5 of Final Girls Soccer Poll
The Redcoats enjoyed an unexpected run from the No. 20 seed to the Class M championship game.

Ridgefield and Granby Memorial high schools were the big winners not only on the field, but in the final balloting of girls soccer coaches in Connecticut for the 2017 season.
Ridgefield (15-2-3), the Class LL champion, garnered three of five first-place votes to top the LL-L division. Class L winner St. Joseph (16-1-4) received the other two top votes.
In the M-S division, Class M champion Granby Memorial (19-1) was tabbed number one on four of seven ballots, while Class S titleholder Lyme-Old Lyme (20-0) collected the other three top votes.

Berlin, which was just 8-8 during the regular season, won four games over higher-seeded opponents in the Class M tournament before bowing to Granby in the title match. The Redcoats finished with the No. 5 ranking in M-S.
