Berlin's Deputy Police Chief Retiring To Be Chief In Winchester
The Stratford resident and veteran Berlin Police Department officer/administrator's last day is March 31.

BERLIN, CT β A veteran Berlin police officer and police administrator has announced this week his departure to become police chief in Winchester.
Berlin Deputy Chief of Police Christopher C. Ciuci, a resident of Stratford, said Tuesday his last day in Berlin is March 31.
Ciuci, who started in Berlin as a patrolman in 1994, said he is retiring from Berlin and taking over chief duties in the Town of Winchester, which is located in Litchfield County, and is home to the city of Winsted.

According to an announcement from the Town of Winchester, Ciuci's tenure in Berlin saw a steady climb up the police administration ladder, with a promotion to sergeant in 1998, detective from 2002-05, lieutenant in 2008 and deputy chief in 2017.
He currently also serves on the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), a role he has held since 2007.

CALEA is a key organization that analyzes and accredits law enforcement agencies.
A graduate of the University of New Haven in criminal justice, Ciuci has also earned advanced degrees and certification from the University of Connecticut and Albertus Magnus College.

Ciuci, who replaces retiring Winchester Police Chief William T. Fitzgerald, officially starts his new job Monday, April 3, with a noontime swearing in ceremony at Winchester Town Hall.
