Another Husky Bites the Dust: Tyler Olander

The UCONN men's basketball team lost another player last week due to a foot injury.

It's been a tough end to the season for the UCONN Huskies.

First Shabazz Napier has foot problems that cause him to miss games, and now Tyler Olander. These Huskies aren't barking- they're howling- in pain.

UCONN is down to just six healthy scholarship players: Ryan Boatright, Brendan Allen, Leon Tolksdorf, DeAndre Daniels, R. J. Evans, and Phil Nolan.

Olander missed the season finale on Saturday in Storrs against Providence with a fractured foot. He sustained the injury during the Huskies' loss to South Florida last Wednesday at the Sun Dome. The junior tried to play through the injury but left with 9:49 left, playing 18 minutes, scoring two points with five rebounds.

Olander, from E. O. Smith-Storrs played in 29 games this season, starting in 26. He averaged 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in 21.6 minutes.

He met with a surgeon on Monday to determine the course of treatment. He will likely need surgery and weeks of rehab to be ready for next season.
