Tom's Cure, Inc.—a local charitable foundation dedicated to promoting awareness of pancreatic cancer as well as for funding scientific and medical research for its early diagnosis and treatment—is hosting its first annual “Walk” at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, Connecticut this Sunday, May 20th, at 9:00 AM. Admission to the three-mile walk is $5 per adult; however, children can walk for free!
Tom's Cure, Inc. was founded and organized by employees of the Stew Leonard's store in Newington, Connecticut, in memory of the death of Tom Arthur, an employee at Stew Leonard's since 1983. Tom was not only a dedicated employee and president of a Stew Leonard's store, but was a "good neighbor", always thinking and caring of others, and very proud of the team he assembled at Stew Leonard's as well as the managers he developed.
My baby brother recently died of cancer so I know how painful and devastating the loss of a beloved family member to cancer can be. My wife, who is a cancer survivor, and myself intend to walk in memory of Tom this Sunday in order to raise money for the early detection of pancreatic cancer, which, if found early enough, can be cured.
