At that time, a lone female, later identified by authorities as Suzanne Laprise, 51, of Colonial Court, Plainville, entered the lobby of the Bristol Police Department at 131 N. Main St.
According to state officials, she approached the front lobby desk office, which was unoccupied at the time, and banged on the windows with a handgun.

"After banging on the windows, Laprise fired multiple rounds into the windows," the Office of Inspector General wrote in a release Tuesday. "The rounds did not penetrate the bullet-resistant glass."
As officers attempted to open a dialogue with Laprise, she discharged additional rounds in the direction of the officers.
State authorities said BPD Officer Spencer Boisvert then returned fire, firing two shots.
The bullet-resistant glass stopped all rounds and no one was hit.
When Laprise set the handgun down, officers entered the lobby, deployed an electronic defense weapon, and took her into custody, state officials reported.
Footage released by the state Tuesday shows multiple angles inside the lobby, as well as the officer response on the other side of the glass. Gunshots are heard throughout the videos.
Laprise was taken to Bristol Hospital for evaluation. She was later released and returned to the Bristol Police Department.
She has been charged with criminal attempt at murder with special circumstances; illegal discharge of a firearm; illegal carry of firearms under the influence of drugs/alcohol; criminal use of weapons; violation of a pistol permit requirement; illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine; first-degree criminal mischief; first-degree reckless endangerment; and second-degree breach of peace.
She was arraigned in court on Oct.6 and will appear in New Britain Superior Court Oct. 17, according to court records.
Laprise is still being held on $1 million bond, according to online court documents.
