Erroneous Sign Installed at Berlin Bridge Project Site
A spelling error on a newly-installed sign has caused some humorous comments to be posted on social media.

BERLIN, CT — A spelling error on a new road sign near the Farmington Avenue bridge project has become fodder for humorous commentary on social media, including the Berlin Police Department Facebook page.
The recently-posted sign reads "ROOD FLOODS" instead of "ROAD FLOODS," prompting the administrator of the police department's Facebook page to write:
BRITISH- Historical
Rood- a measure of land area equal to a quarter of an acre. We are the home of the Redcoats are we not?

- "So glad our tax dollars are being well spent, how much are we paying these guys?"
- "Bad enough it was submitted to the sign maker that way, but the maker saw it as well as those installing it and NO ONE picked up on it."
- "That’s awesome. Project went 10 months and millions over in budget and the sign is wrong."
- "Does this go into the "You had one Job!" Category?"
Jack Healy, Interim Town Manager, Town Engineer and Public Works Director, said the construction contractor installed the sign, and has since replaced it. He added the bridge has been opened.
"They are still performing some work in the area of the bridge so there may be temporary closures from time to time but the bridge is officially open," Healy said.
