UPDATE: Berlin High School Reopens After Flood Cleanup

The overnight rain flooded the school, prompting cancellation of classes.

Update: 6:35 a.m. June 2:

Classes are scheduled to resume at Berlin High School on Tuesday — a day after it was closed for flooding caused heavy rains.

A roof leaf damaged the second-floor of the school. According to WTNH, clean-up crews brought in fans to dry out the area and fix damaged ceiling tiles.

The school will reopen at its regular time of 7:25 a.m.

Berlin High School was closed for the day Monday morning because of flooding in the building, according to reports.

The students were sent home about 9 a.m., however, seniors are still taking their class trip today, according to WFSB.

According to The Hartford Courant, “Due to the deluge of rain last evening, the rooftop of our school, which is under construction … has been overwhelmed,” Principal Francis Kennedy said in phone and email messages to parents.
