New Britain Man Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography Charges: Feds

Brian Herndon was on probation when he committed the crime, according to federal prosecutors.

NEW BRITAIN, CT — A New Britain man has pleaded guilty to charges that he possessed child pornography, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Brian Herndon, 45, was on supervised release from a prior federal conviction when he committed the crime.

Herndon was sentenced to six years in prison followed by five years of supervised release in 2009 for charges of child pornography possession. He was released from prison in 2014, then in 2015, probation officers searched his residence and seized a laptop.

On that laptop were 2,269 images and 74 videos of child pornography, according to the statement.

Herndon is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 24 and faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years on the charge with up to two additional years for violating the conditions of he supervised release.

Herndon is released on bond and remains under court supervision pending sentencing.

This investigation is being conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter S. Jongbloed.
