Timberlin Will Have Booth At Fair

Golf course trying to get more play by new marketing initiatives.

The Timberlin Booth will be one of the new attractions at the Berlin Fair this year.

“This is the first time Timberlin has secured a booth at the fair,” said Jonathan Zuk, Director of Golf at Timberlin. Zuk has increasingly stepped up efforts to advertise and promote the golf course recently in response to tough economic times and stiff competition from other public courses in the area.

The Timberlin Booth will include a golf ball hitting cage and a putting contest. For the putting contest, participants can attempt to make one putt for $1 or five putts for $3. Those who make the putt will have their names entered into a drawing for free rounds of golf at Timberlin.

Coupons for discounted golf will also be handed out at the booth; visitors who fill out an information card will receive coupons for 32% off the regular fee.

PGA Golf Pro Mark Bayram and Assistant Golf Pro Jacob Halligan will be among those manning the booth along with Mr. Zuk.

Town Councilor Robert Dacey commended Zuk for his efforts to promote Timberlin. “This is something we haven’t had in the last 30 or 40 years - advertising,” said Dacey after hearing the details about the Timberlin Booth, a new television commercial and other efforts to publicize and promote the course. “You’ve done a lot in the past few months to get our expenses under control related to the golf course, probably the most ever,” said Dacey. “Now getting the revenue up is a very difficult thing, and this is a good first effort.”
