Woman Thrown Out Of Car In Berlin, Middletown Man Charged: BPD

The 18-year-old man was taken into custody at his Middletown home.

BERLIN, CT β€” Local police Monday said an 18-year-old Middletown man has been charged in connection with a woman being thrown out of a vehicle on a Berlin roadway Saturday.

Berlin police said Monday they have charged Curtis Watford, 18, of Dove Lane, Middletown, with two counts of violating a protective order; reckless driving; and engaging police in pursuit.

According to the Berlin Police Department, officers at about 4:12 p.m. Saturday responded to multiple 911 calls from witnesses reporting an incident in the area of Worthington Ridge/Frontage Road.

"Witnesses reported that a female had been thrown from a moving vehicle onto the roadway," wrote the BPD.

A short time later another witness flagged down an officer and pointed out a white BMW X5, that they said they witnessed a female being thrown from, police said.

Police said the officer then attempted to stop the suspect vehicle using emergency lights and sirens but the suspect drove away at a high rate of speed.

The suspect, later identified as Watford, engaged police in pursuit until the pursuit was terminated on Interstate 91 South.

A subsequent investigation identified the suspect/operator of the vehicle as being the Middletown teen, who was located at his residence and taken into custody.
