Update: 6 Fire Departments Battling Large Brush Fire in Bethel

The fire is in the area of Racebrook Road and Limekiln Court in Bethel.

BETHEL, CT--

Update: As of 3:03 p.m. a Bethel firefighter reports that the fire is now under control. Brookfield and Sandy Hook fire crews responded with Utility Terrain Vehicles, 6 wheeled ATVs that are equipped with a small pump and water tanks, to control the blaze.

Police and fire are stationed behind St. Mary School because they're filling tankers from the fire hydrant there to shuttle water to the fire.

The Bethel, Dodgingtown, Newtown, Sandy Hook, Redding and Brookfield Fire Departments are all responding to a large brush fire at Limekiln Court near Racebrook Road in Bethel, according to local retired firefighter Rob Fish.

The fire was reported at approximately 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to The News Times.
