Anonymous Donor Promises New Bethel Track & Field Center

Built on the high school campus, it would also be a resource open to other teams in the community.

BETHEL, CT — An anonymous benefactor has pledged to fund and build a cutting edge track and field training center on the Bethel High School campus, the News Times is reporting. Available for use by the high school, it would also be a resource open to other teams in the community.

The facility would include a 200-meter track, bathrooms, storage and space for athletes to practice hurdling, long jumping and the shot put. The building would be situated behind the high school by the old tennis courts.

The plan calls for the facility to be built during the renovations to Rockwell and Johnson Elementary School, and for the town to lease the lot from the donor for $1 a year for five years, after which the donor would turn the building over to the Board of Education.
