Bethel Dad, Vet Tech, Diagnosed with Leukemia Needs Help
The Head Technician of Bethel Veterinary Hospital since 2011 was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

BETHEL, CT-- The Head Technician of Bethel Veterinary Hospital was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
The Bethel father and vet, Barry Solomon, begins chemotherapy March 4. The American Cancer Society explains Acute myeloid leukemia (AML):
"Acute means that this leukemia can progress quickly if not treated, and would probably be fatal in a few months. “Myeloid” refers to the type of cell this leukemia starts from. Most cases of AML develop from cells that would turn into white blood cells (other than lymphocytes), but some cases of AML develop in other types of blood-forming cells. In most cases it quickly moves into the blood. It can sometimes spread to other parts of the body including the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), and testicles."
Solomon's family and friends are asking for support via a GoFundMe page. They have raised over $17,000 of their $25,000 fundraising goal in just one day. The organizer, Terry Tatta, wrote on the site:
"This devasting news comes as a shock to everyone who knows Barry. Most importantly to his 10 year old son Liam. His time away from Bethel Veterinary Hospital and his family will be a huge financial strain on him. He needs to focus all his energy on fighting his cancer and not worrying about bills. Please help support one of the kindest and loving people we know! Barry is so compassionate and loving toward animals we want to show how much we appreciate him!"
