Bethel Fire Department to Welcome New Engine During Trick or Treat Street

The Bethel Fire Department welcomes the community to come for the wet down and ribbon cutting on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.

Captain Brendan Patrick Ryan announced that the Bethel Fire Department will hold a “Wet Down” to welcome their new Engine 5 fire truck.

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31 during Trick or Treat Street. Captain Ryan told Patch, “We thought it would be a good day to do it and to coordinate the event with the Chamber of Commerce’s Trick or Treat Street because so many kids will be downtown.”

Children and families can come to see the newest piece of apparatus between 1 and 4 p.m. at the Bethel Fire Department, 38 South Street, Bethel.

The official ribbon cutting will take place at 1 p.m.

“We would like to encourage the citizens of Bethel and surrounding towns to come out and see the new engine, take a look at our other trucks, take a tour of our firehouse, visit the Bethel Firefighter museum, meet the members of the department, and enjoy some food and refreshments,” Ryan said in a statement.

Highway Robbery Band will entertain visitors and the department will have candy available for trick or treaters.
