Bethel Firefighters Rescue Children Lost in Nature Preserve
The children had gotten lost in the old quarry nature preserve Sunday evening.
BETHEL, CT — Police and fire crews rescued two children who had gotten lost in the old quarry nature preserve Sunday evening.
Bethel Fire & EMS responded to a report of lost children in the woods. "Reportedly two children had entered the area of the old quarry nature preserve via a known trail, they quickly became disoriented and wandered off the trail," emergency workers wrote on Facebook.
The public safety dispatcher was able to track the phone the child called from and provided direction to fire and police units on scene. The children were found quickly, firefighters posted, thanks to a local resident who heard them shouting. A fire crew was able to gain access to the area on foot and walk the children out, where they were seen by a waiting ambulance.
