Bethel Food Pantry Needs Supplies, Volunteers

The Bethel Community Food Pantry is still in need of food, as well as volunteers, going into the end-of-year holiday season.

BETHEL, CT —The Bethel Community Food Pantry is still in need of food, as well as volunteers, going into the end-of-year holiday season.

Each month, clients can visit on the first and third Tuesday and choose their own non-perishable food plus bread, fresh fruit and vegetables and, when available, meat and dairy products.

The pantry can be found in the rear of the Bethel United Methodist Church, located at 141 Greenwood Avenue.

The pantry serves Bethel residents who have obtained a ConneCT "gray card" or a referral letter from a doctor, social worker or clergyperson.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Help stock pantry shelves
  • Organize a food drive
  • Collect personal hygiene items
  • Pick up donations
  • Bag items for clients
  • Package produce and bread
  • Prepare shopping bags for clients
  • Help clients carry bags to their cars

Community service hours are available for youth. Pantry officials will also help organize group projects for confirmation classes, scout troops, etc.
