Bethel Guitarist for The Thunderbirds and The Vandals Died at 73

The lifelong Bethel resident passed away on April 27, 2-16. Friends may call at Green Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, 2016.

BETHEL, CT — Samuel T. Mazza, Sr, aged 73, passed away on April 27, 2016 at Western Rehabilitation Care Center following a long illness.

Sam, a lifelong resident of Danbury and Bethel, was born on February 24, 1943 to Mary and Ralph Mazza and attended Danbury schools. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Josephine Somers, Elaine Belanger, Frank Mazza, and Ralph Mazza.

During his early years he was a guitarist and band member of The Thunderbirds and The Vandals. Sam worked for various grocery stores and retired from Branson Ultrasonic Power in 2003 where he worked in the shipping department.

Sam will be missed by Linda (Gore) Mazza, his wife of 50 years. His sons: Samuel of Danbury and Anthony of Bethel. His daughter in law: Wendy. His grandchildren: Julie, Sam, Lainey, and Charlotte of Bethel. Also, siblings Theresa Cunningham of Poultney, Vermont, Sarah Crowell (husband Art) of Newtown, Louise Villane (husband Jack) of Newtown, and brother John (wife Doreen) of Stuart Florida and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 10am on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
