Bethel To Hold 'Candlelight Vigil For Justice'

The Bethel vigil is the latest area event​ to pay tribute to George Floyd.

BETHEL, CT — A "Candlelight Vigil for Justice" has been scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. on the municipal center lawn. The event has been organized by First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker and State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan "for justice for all the lives lost to police brutality and the fight against institutionalized racism."

The vigil is the latest area event to pay tribute to George Floyd, a black man who was killed while in the custody of the Minneapolis police on Memorial Day.

Allie-Brennan stressed that the event is not a social gathering, but "an outdoor spiritual gathering where we will strictly observe social distancing." Masks or other face-coverings are required, and attendees must stand at least six feet apart.
