Bethel to Honor Hometown MLB Star
Boston Red Sox pitcher and 2018 World Series standout Matt Barnes will be honored with a dinner in January.
BETHEL, CT — The All Sports Booster Club is hosting a dinner to celebrate hometown star Matt Barnes’ World Series victory. Barnes is a Bethel High School graduate, grew up playing in local teams and went on to play for the University of Connecticut.
The dinner is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 21 at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury.
Barnes won his first Major League Baseball championship in 2018, pitching for the Boston Red Sox. He helped the Red Sox to its World Series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in October.

The event will feature speeches from Barnes' past coaches and First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker, who will deliver a proclamation in Barnes’ name.
Fifty tickets are being made available to meet and be photographed with Barnes. Items signed by the pitcher will also be raffled off at the event.
