Bethel Middle School Raises Awareness for Brain Cancer

Bethel Middle School students and teachers wore gray in May for Brain Tumor Awareness Month and donated over $2,000.

Bethel Middle School students and teachers wore gray every Friday in May for Brain Tumor Awareness Month, and raised more than $2,000 for the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance.

Bethel Middle School student government, with the guidance of music teacher Tom Rombilus, spearheaded their “Wear Gray in May & Make Your Teachers Pay” program. According to Rombilus, every Friday students were asked to wear something gray to help raise awareness of brain cancer. Each teacher donated one cent for every student who wore something gray in their classes.

The Alliance visited Bethel Middle School and accepted the check from the student government President Audrey Garcia and Treasurer Michelle Nunes on June 18.
