Bethel Names New Assistant Principal At Johnson Elementary School
Beth Grieco most recently has served as the assistant principal at The Expeditionary Learning Academy, a K-5 School in Hartford.
BETHEL, CT — The Public Schools is has announced a new assistant principal of R.M.T. Johnson Elementary School.
According to Superintendent Christine Carver, Beth Grieco was selected for the position from a pool of over 24 qualified applicants.
In a news release, Carver said the following qualities distinguished Grieco's candidacy:

- strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and experience with technology integration
- experience in providing teachers effective feedback on instructional practices
- a systems thinker who has a clear vision and ability to operationalize a plan of action
- exemplary communication skills and highly collaborative
- expertise in the intervention process; standards-based grading and instruction; and effective academic and
- social-emotional programs
- strong rapport with staff, students, and families
Grieco began her career teaching grades K-5 for the New York City Public Schools. She continued her career as a reading specialist and literacy instructional coach for the Bethel Public Schools for five years. Grieco most recently has served as the assistant principal at The Expeditionary Learning Academy, a K-5 School in Hartford.
"Mrs. Grieco has a depth of experience in curriculum development and is skilled at developing and implementing professional learning," Carver said. "She is an extremely talented instructional leader who possesses a deep knowledge base of effective pedagogy which she utilizes when supervising and providing feedback to staff members. Mrs. Grieco has served as an active member of many school committees such as; School Climate Committees, District Professional Learning Committees, and Strategic Planning Committees."

Grieco has earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in child study and speech from Saint Joseph's College, a master's degree in literacy and cognition from Saint Joseph’s College, and a master's degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education. She is currently enrolled in the Instructional Leadership Program at Western Connecticut State University pursuing her doctorate degree, which she anticipates completing in the fall of this year.
"I am proud and excited to continue my work as an educational leader within the Bethel Public
School community," Greico said in a news release. "I look forward to working as a team to build upon the success of Johnson School, meeting the needs and interests of our students as we prepare them to become global citizens."
